Prompt Guide

Be Specific and Detailed:

Provide detailed instructions and context about the file and the questions you want to answer, the more specific the prompt, the better the model can understand the task.

Example: "I have a spreadsheet with sales data for the past year. I would like to analyze the data and answer the following questions: What was the total revenue for each month in 2022?"

Start with an Overview:

Begin the prompt with a high-level overview of the file and the task at hand.

Example: "I have a spreadsheet with sales data for the past year. I would like to analyze the data and answer the following questions: Can you identify any outliers in the order value data?"

Clearly Articulate the Questions:

Use precise language when stating the questions.

Example: "Provide a bullet-point summary of the key insights from the sales data for 2022."

Provide Context and Constraints:

Include any relevant context about the file, such as the file type, column names, formatting requirements, or specific entries.

Example: "Show me the total value of orders marked 'Attention Manny' in the sales data."

Request Specific Outputs:

Specify the desired output format, such as a text summary or a series of steps to follow.

Example: "Provide a list of the top 5 products with the highest order value."

Test and Refine the Prompt:

Start with a simple prompt, test it, and then refine and iterate as needed to get the desired results.

Example: Start with a simple prompt, such as "Summarize the key insights from the sales data spreadsheet." Review the response, then refine the prompt to be more specific, such as "Provide a bullet-point list of the top 3 insights from the sales data, including the months with the highest and lowest total revenue."

Use Proper Formatting:

Use proper formatting when asking for data retrieval.

Example: "Show me the total value of orders placed in May 2022."

Use Context:

Provide context when asking about a specific section of the file or spreadsheet.

Example: "Show me the number of orders placed in the Southeast region in Q4 of 2022."

The more specific you are with the prompts, the better the model can understand the question. It may take a few tries to get the exact answer you are looking for.
